Shadow Play | Shadow Dance

Shadow Play | Shadow Dance is the final result of a seven week study of play in social dance. After exploring the different forms of play that exist within the realm of social dancing, I came to the conclusion that what I enjoy most about it is its conversationality. Within the structured, but flexible frame-work of Lindy Hop, I can easily express myself without feeling completely vulnerable. What I wanted to replicate was that feeling of safety within creativity.
Shadow Play | Shadow Dance’s adjustable screens and lighting set-up allows for players to create thin and layered degrees of separation between themselves and others. This can either be used to set a stage, or to offer a sense of privacy within an open space.
